Iain Moggach

Iain is the former Artistic Director of Theatre by the Bay, and an award-winning producer, director, and artistic community leader.

In his time with TBTB, he increased the operating capacity of the company by 50%, raised $1,000,000 in grant funding in his first four years as AD, and developed the company's first Diversity and Inclusion Action Plan. He also turned TBTB into one of the most-followed arts organizations in Simcoe County on social media, and increased email newsletter sign-ups by 265% in his first 3 years.

Over the course of 8 years, Iain also oversaw and shaped the Emerging Director Program, the Barrie Theatre Lab, and the original Indie Producer Co-op. From the proven track record of these initiatives, he piloted the first three years of the Simcoe County Theatre Festival, and expanded the Indie Producer Co-op to the national level, turning the once-summer-co-op into a 3x a year comprehensive training program open to emerging producers in Simcoe County, Southern Ontario, and across Canada.

Programs & Apprenticeships

Burro'd provides hands-on training in an apprenticeship/internship environment for emerging and established arts workers that are looking to develop or sharpen their skills.

Most notably, you will see Assistant Directors and/or Apprentice Producers hard at work through our rehearsal processes. These assistants and apprentices receive support for hands-on experiential learning as well as 1:1 instructional time with Burro'd Theatre's Artistic Director, Iain Moggach.

Our first official Apprentice Producer was Christina Wood-Horton, assisting in marketing, admin, and various essential coordination duties for The Seagull in 2025. Christina was an incredible asset to the Seagull crew, and we can't wait to see where she grows from here!

If you are interested in potential Assistant Directorships or Apprentice Producer positions for future Burro'd productions, please contact us directly at burrodtheatre@gmail.com to introduce yourself.
