Burro’d Theatre sets sail for the holiday season with It’s a Plunderful Life; a pirate-themed Christmas cabaret!

Hosted by the notorious ‘Mick the Dick’ (played by two-time Pirate of the Year, Iain Moggach), this one-night-only variety show brings together some of the funniest and most talented performers Simcoe County has to offer for a gleefully ridiculous night of holiday entertainment. Our ship’s hull is stocked with music, burlesque, sketches, comedy, and festive mischief, with a portion of all proceeds going directly to local charities including Christmas Cheer and Camphill Communities Ontario.

Expect big laughs, surprising performances, a little seasonal sparkle, and enough pirate nonsense to make even the Grinch say “Yarrr that be too much pirate nonsense!”

Whether you love Christmas, comedy, cabaret, or just want a holiday season night out that does not feel like the same old thing, It’s a Plunderful Life is ready to hoist the sail and kick off December in style.

Join Burro’d Theatre at the Orillia Opera House's Studio Theatre on Tuesday, December 2 at 7:30 PM for a festive voyage unlike any other.

Camphill Partnership

Burro'd is excited to have found a true Venue Partner in Camphill Communities Ontario. We have now presented two shows on Camphill's beautiful grounds; The Seagull in Nov 2025 as the pilot project, and our full outdoor Summer 2026 production of A Midsummer Night's Dream.

Midsummer 2026 - Website Banner Graphic.png

A Midsummer Night's Dream closed on Sunday Sept 13th, 2026 after a 12-performance run including 4 sold-out shows.

Our cast of 10 local actors brought this revival of Burro'd's inaugural production to life outside on the beautiful grounds of Camphill Communities Ontario in a magical grove right next to Novalis Hall. Thanks to support from the Ontario Trillium Foundation, this run featured an all-weather guarantee (with Novalis Hall as our rain venue), two pay-what-you-can performances, a Relaxed Matinee on Sun Sept 6th, and tiered ticket pricing across all performances ('Standard' General Admission and discounted 'Arts Access' General Admission).

We are proud to have had 50% of our ticket sales go directly to support Camphill's important charitable work.

100 min runtime, no intermission.

2025 Season Production

The Seagull Poster - quote with Nina on seashore

THE SEAGULL closed on Sunday Nov 9th, 2025 after a full-capacity run.

Thank you to our sponsors, volunteers, cast & crew, and enthusiastic audiences for such a stellar first production inside Camphill's Novalis Hall!

Now set in the mid-2020s, this modern adaptation of Anton Chekhov's The Seagull revolved around the romantic and artistic conflicts between three theatre artists and their friends & family in rural, small-town Ontario. Treading the line between comedy and tragedy, Burro'd Theatre's The Seagull presented a timely take on the celebrated classic Russian tale about love, theatre, and paths not taken.

2 hour runtime, including a 15 minute intermission.
